AFL legend Eddie Betts to retire after 350th match

Carlton favourite Eddie Betts says he will retire after playing his 350th AFL match this weekend against GWS.

The 34-year-old will become the 19th player to reach the 350-match milestone, and the third Indigenous player, after Adam Goodes and Shaun Burgoyne, to achieve the feat.

Making his debut for Carlton in 2005, Betts moved to Adelaide at the end of 2013 and was a member of the Crows’ 2017 grand final side that lost to Richmond.

He returned to the Blues ahead of the 2020 season.

Betts has kicked 638 goals during his career.

The proud Wirangu Kokatha man has also claimed three All-Australian selections and three goal of the year awards across his 17-season career.

More to come.
